Toronto Senior Citizens crown Valentine royalty

VALENTINE ROYALTY — The Toronto Senior Citizens crowned Pat Ferrell and Bob Rawlings as the Valentine’s queen and king at the Feb. 14 meeting. -- Contributed

TORONTO — Doris Matyas presided at the Toronto Senior Citizens meeting held on Feb. 14 where Bob Rawlings and Pat Ferrell were crowned as the Valentine’s king and queen.

Mary Alice Meyer gave the blessing for the pizza party. She also led the members in opening exercises and read a Valentine poem.

Joyce Dobbs read the list of acknowledgments of those marking birthdays and anniversaries. Reports were given by Fran Sheets and Rosemary Bonofine.

Nancy Stanak provided an overview of trips. They included a May 30 and 31 trip to Dayton that would include a Kitchen Aid tour and visits to the National Museum of U.S. Air Force, Wright Brothers memorial, Murphy’s warehouse of books and Carillon Historical Park. Other trips are: June 22, Pirates vs. Padres baseball game; July 18, mystery outing; Aug. 17, Hartville; and Sept. 16-19, Ocean City, which includes stops at Ocean Downs Casino, Assateague Island, Ocean City boardwalk; and Lewes & Rehoboth. Cathy Grimes won the 50/50 drawing. Door prize winners were Tony Farrister, Bob Zahniser, Linda Howcroft, Phil Cicone, Peg Miller, Ray Phillis, Nancy Stanak and Emma Spicer. Bingo winners were Barbara Losey, Sol Robinson, Bob Zahniser, Pat Ferrell and Terry Mamula. Scat winners were Mary Scott and Joyce Dobbs.

The next meeting will be held Feb. 28 at the Roosevelt Building.
