Hopedale United Methodist Church celebrated its 150th anniversary on June 2 with it sister church, Bloomingdale United Methodist Church, joining in worship. The Rev. Dave Quillen, pastor of both churches, welcomed the congregation and guests. Special music was provided by Jeff and Cindy Burns with renditions of “I Can’t Even Walk” and “Through the Fire.” The two led the singing of “How Great thou Art” and “Victory in Jesus.” Quillen spoke on the church being “More than a Building.” Following the services, a covered-dish dinner was held and included an anniversary cake. “It was nice to catch up with some old friends and hear some of the stories from years past,” a church spokesperson noted. “Sadly, Pastor Dave will be leaving and going on to another charge. We have all enjoyed him and his family and watching him grow as a minister, husband and father and wish him well in his new life. We look forward to continuing on in our community service with our new pastor.”
