In her memory
Awards made through the Cynthia Rose Phillipson Charitable Foundation this year included the presentation of several scholarships. Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship for his or her college education during Catholic Central High School’s senior awards banquet. Those recipients, shown with Cynthia’s parents, Carol Phillipson, left, and Todd Phillipson, right, are, from left, Rick Terry, Emma Borden and Jacob Stoll. In addition Emily Holzopfel from Buckeye Local also received a $1,000 scholarship. All applicants wrote an essay about “Courage, Character, Heart and Spirit” as did Jillian Bucci, who received a $1,000 dollar scholarship toward tuition at Catholic Central in an award made for an incoming freshman. The foundation continues its work to provide funds for Cynthia’s Kitchen, cornerstone of hope and educational purposes — all in memory of and in honor of Cynthia Rose Phillipson, who was a 15-year-old freshman at Catholic Central when she died Nov. 2, 2014. Funds are raised through a variety of projects, including a golfing event that will be held July 13 at the Cadiz Country Club with an 11 a.m. tee time.
