Follansbee Branch to show

‘Pokemon,’ ‘A Dog’s Journey’

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Branch of the Brooke County Public Library will be showing the film “Pokemon Detective Pikachu,” beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The first-ever live-action Pokemon adventure, “Pokemon Detective Pikachu” is rated PG and stars Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, the iconic face of the global Pokemon phenomenon — one of the world’s most popular, multi-generation entertainment properties and the most successful media franchise of all time, according to library information.

The film also showcases a wide array of beloved Pokemon characters, each with its own unique abilities and personality.

The Follansbee Branch will show “A Dog’s Journey,” rated PG-13, at noon on Friday.

“A dog makes a promise to protect and be there for his owner’s granddaughter as she experiences the highs and lows of life,” notes promotional information about the movie.

Craft class on window stars

scheduled for Thursday

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will be holding a craft class at 5 p.m. on Thursday for young adults and adults.

Those attending will learn how to create “magical window stars” using special paper-folding techniques and colored tissue paper. All materials will be provided. Limited space is available. Participants should call the circulation desk at (304) 737-1551 to reserve a seat.

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County Humane Foundation is providing a low-cost cat spay and neuter clinic on Aug. 31.
