STEUBENVILLE — Tuesday was a “rosy” day for members of the Steubenville Kiwanis Club who have kicked off what is the organization’s key fundraiser.

Orders for a dozen long-stemmed roses can now be placed through any Kiwanis member or by calling Tom Timmons, treasurer, at (740) 314-9574.

The sale has been an annual tradition of more than 50 years for the club, which uses the proceeds to fund a number of its youth and community projects, including scholarships and a Christmas party for first-graders at East Elementary School in Steubenville.

The price of a dozen long-stemmed, boxed roses is $20 for local deliveries to be made Sept. 17 to the Steubenville, Wintersville, Mingo Junction, Toronto, Richmond, Brilliant, Weirton and Follansbee areas. The sale continues to be limited to local sales only, with no mailouts as done in past years.

The deadline to place orders is Sept. 13. Janna Rusinovich is chairman of the sale.

Tuesday’s meeting also included guest speaker Lori Featherolf, Steubenville’s recreation director who was introduced by Julie Decker, August program chair.
