Toronto Three Arts Club

to tour library

TORONTO — The Toronto Three Arts Club will kick off its new year of programs with a meeting set for Thursday at the newly renovated main library of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.

The gathering there at 407 S. Fourth St., Steubenville, begins at 4 p.m. with members taking a tour of the facility. Later, the club will meeting for dinner at Naples and the meeting. New program booklets will be handed out, and dues of $25 will be collected.

Other programs scheduled for the year include Carolyn Walker’s “History of Newburg Landing, Toronto;” Toronto High School musical department’s mystery theater dinner; cupcake decorating with Margaret Martelle, club member; and a “Make It, Take It, Grow It, Sew It” auction where items are the handiwork of the club members.

Tri-State Marine Corps Auxiliary holds meeting

WEIRTON — The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary met Sept. 9 with President Shirley Brecht presiding.

Chaplain Mary Ann Smith offered the prayer. A special prayer list was given by Marcy Spano.

Reports included the minutes from the August meeting and the announcement that the picnic will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The women will bring desserts, and the club will furnish food and drinks.

The club voted to have a Thanksgiving basket drawing. Members will bring non-perishable items for it to the October meeting.

Birthdays were acknowledged. The 50/50 was won by Darlene Kemp. The nominating committee will meet after the monthly meeting on Oct. 14. Raush provided refreshments. Next month will be Marcy Spano’s turn.

Wellsburg Civic

League to meet

WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Civic League will hold the first meeting of the year at Drover’s Inn on Wellsburg on Sept. 24

Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dues may be paid at this time for the 2019-20 year. Those who have not been contacted about the dinner are asked to call a member of the social or telephone committees. Members are encouraged to invite a friend to the monthly meetings, held every fourth Tuesday at the Wellsburg Library.
