Women’s Golf News


Play of the day for the Cadiz Women’s Golf League was “Fairways less Putts.” Players received five points for each drive in the fairway.

Hostesses Denise Augustine and Pat Beaman announced winners as: First place, Ann Milleson (31); second place, Glenda Sensel (29); and Marilyn Kenny, (27) in third place. The “Putt Pot” was split between Janis Cook and Kathy Newburn (29).

Marilyn Kenny achieved a chip-in on hole No. 3, which also gave her a rare eagle. Paula Hope also had a chip-in on hole No. 12, and Kathy Newburn made a birdie on hole No. 7.

Wednesday hostesses will be Glenda Sensel and Jane Galigher, playing a simple low net game. Tee time is 9 a.m.


The women of the Red Oaks Golf League played the back nine on Sept. 9. The play of the day was “Par Fours.”

The winners were: First place, Kathi Moore; second place, Lori DeFallo; and third place, Denise Augustine. Ruth Lamantia took the honor of long drive on hole No. 13. Linda Caputo was closest to the pin on hole No. 17. Signa Findlay had a chip-in on hole No. 12 for par and also had a birdie on hole No. 15. Kathi Moore had a chip-in on hole No. 14. Neysa McCart birdied hole No. 18.

This week, the women will play at Highland Springs with the starting time moved up to 4:45 p.m. Call the club house by 3:30 p.m. to sign up to play.


Town and Country Golf played the first nine of their club championship on Sept. 5. The day’s winners were: A flight, Laura Froehlich; B flight, Pat Zorne; and C flight, Shirley Guida. Low putts was Lucy Karaan.

Other winners were:

Long drive, hole No. 3: A flight, Froehlich.

Long drive, hole No. 6: A Flight, Froehlich; B flight, Betty Jose; and C flight,Guida.

Closest to the pin, hole No. 8: A flight, Froehlich; B flight, Zorne; and C flight, Sondra Hyde.
