A.H.E.P.A. looks ahead to 11th-annual community-based Thanksgiving dinner

WEIRTON — The A.H.E.P.A. 2019 Thanksgiving dinner for the Weirton Christian Center and the Dunbar Recreation Center will be held Nov. 26 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church hall, beginning at 5 p.m.

The Hancock County Chapter No. 103 of the Order of A.H.E.P.A. has voted to sponsor the 11th-annual Thanksgiving dinner, according to President James Blanketas.

The community-based project has grown each year since its inception in 2009. The project also “has brought the A.H.E.P.A. Chapter and the All Saints community together to provide for those who are as fortunate as our families. Many from the community have begun donating their time and talents,” a news release notes. Individuals interested in donating their time, talents and/or money can contact Steve Psaros, chairman, at (304) 723-0677 or (403) 224-8383. Monetary donations in the form of checks can be made payable to Order of AHEPA Hancock Chapter 103 and mailed to Steve Psaros at 306 Old Colliers Way, Weirton WV 26062.

“Our goal is to provide the children with a nourishing meal and blessing bags filled with assorted fresh fruit, vegetables, canned food, pudding cups, applesauce, instant oatmeal, ramen noodles, Nestles chocolate drink, milk, a small box of cereal and a variety of snacks,” Blanketas noted.
