Immaculate Conception

marking 50th anniversary

NEW CUMBERLAND — Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Sunday.

Diocese of Wheeling Charleston Bishop Mark Brennan will be officiating the 3 p.m. Mass and attending the anniversary banquet immediately afterward at the church, located at 1016 Ridge Ave.

Former pastors the Rev. Ronald Getsinger, the Rev. Douglas Sutton and the Rev. Eric Antwi, along with other priests, have been invited to attend.

More than 50 years ago, parish members took the initiative to plan and build a new facility on Ridge Avenue.

The anniversary’s aim is to honor “the hard work, dedication and sacrifices that these members of our congregation gave to their mission,” the Rev. Jeeson Stephan notes in a letter to parishioners.

“We honor all former priests and parishioners that were involved in this effort and all of those since 1969 that kept our community of faith alive and well to the present day.”

For information, phone (304) 564-5068 or e-mail iccparish@comcast.net.
