‘Weir Building’ LEGO Club

to meet Tuesday at library

WEIRTON — The “Weir Building” LEGO Club will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library, located at 3442 Main St.

The club will meet on the third Tuesday of each month through May. Children of all ages are welcome, and those under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. There are no fees and no registration requirements. All builders will receive a free “Weir Building” logo button.

Three Arts Club meeting

Thursday for dinner theater

TORONTO — The November meeting of the Three Arts Club of Toronto will be held Thursday at Toronto Jr./Sr. High School for the annual mystery dinner theater performed by the members of the musical theater group at the high school.

Members should be at the school by 5:30 p.m. The cost of the ticket is $15.

PERI Chapter scheduled to

meet Wednesday at YWCA

STEUBENVILLE — Public Employees Retirees Inc. Chapter 5, District 9 met at the YWCA of Steubenville on Oct. 9 with President Harold Ray presiding and Joyce Summers leading in opening exercises.

Various reports were presented before Ray announced the need for a nominating committee to select a slate of candidates for the offices of vice president and secretary. Eileen Warfield and Doris Starr will present their slate at the November meeting. The election will be held at the December meeting.

Ray discussed outcomes of the state meeting in Columbus with PERI and OPERS. He urged public employee retirees to join the local chapter in working to protect pensions and benefits.

The next meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday at the YWCA of Steubenville. All public employee retirees and spouses are encouraged to attend.

Toronto Sunrise Seniors hold

Thanksgiving celebration

TORONTO — The Toronto Sunrise Seniors met at the Roosevelt Building on Nov. 8 for their Thanksgiving celebration.

President Barbara Pritts began the meeting by reading “Thanksgiving Blessings,” a poem written by Joanna Fuchs. Five members were welcomed back into the group after extended absences.

Following the meal, Pritts thanked the kitchen committee for their service. Secretary Laura Sheets conducted the roll call of officers and read the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer Judy Sabol presented the financial report. Vice President Gloria Howard announced November birthdays. The health report was conducted with two members in need of cards.

Ruth White announced that the Christmas dinner will be held at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Karaffa Elementary School. Members need to sign up in order to attend. The December kitchen committee includes White, Nancy Bodrog, Caroline McCart, Louie Nelson, Paul Sherwood, and Marcella McKnight.

Pritts led the group in sharing Thanksgiving memories from previous years. During announcements, Susan Kulstad shared information about the 100th anniversary celebration of the World War I monument. She also said she had painted a historical mural on the side of the DiCarlo’s building on North Third Street. The mural features the images of the Barnes family.

Fifty-fifty tickets were sold by Frank Marino and Helen Bayne. The drawing was won by Betty Pierce and Don Pritts. Gloria Boley gave the benediction.

Following the meeting, members played bingo and cards. Bingo winners included Nancy Bodrog, Mary Lou Deku, Don Pritts, Lucy Timko, Gloria Howard, Helen Bayne, Helen Lindsay, Susan Kulstad, Mary Lou Hawkins, Paul Zink, Peggy Nordenger and Bill Black.

The next meeting will be held Friday at the Roosevelt Center. All senior citizens are invited to attend.

Fundraiser benefit Sunday

for 12-year-old cancer patient

WINTERSVILLE — A fundraiser on behalf of 12-year-old Anthony Michael Bruce, who has Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville.

Bruce was born in Weirton, and his parents are Rachel Gamble and Mike Bruce, explained Nancy Allen, grandmother.

The fundraiser will feature a 50-50 drawing, a Chinese auction, spaghetti dinner, face painting, a magician, a corn hole tournament and live music by US Kids, Brett Cain and Glory and Danny Dami.

Advance tickets are $20 or $25 at the door. They are $10 for children ages 7-12 and free for ages 6 and younger.

51st-annual craft show

scheduled Nov. 30 in Jewett

JEWETT — The 51st-annual Jewett craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Jewett Fire Station and Jewett Wildcat Community Center.

There will be more than 80 tables and various food stands. Admission is $2, good for both buildings. Parking is free.
