East Springfield Center hosting
fundraiser dinner Thursday
EAST SPRINGFIELD — The East Springfield Community Recreation and Service Center will host its monthly fundraiser dinner from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, bread, dessert and drink. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Children younger than 6 eat for free. Patrons can dine in or get takeout. The phone number is (740) 543-3700.
The center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Hall.
Weirton VFW Auxiliary hosting
fundraiser breakfast Saturday
WEIRTON — The Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Panhandle Post 2716 is having a breakfast fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the VFW hall, located at 3435 Main St., Weirton.
The menu will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, orange juice and coffee, all for $7. Children under 12 pay $5, and toddlers eat free.
It is open to the public. Access is through the back door between Main and West streets, close to parking and handicapped accessible. For information, call Patty at (304) 723-5416.
Three Score Seniors welcome guests,
retain officers for 2020
WEIRTON — President Kathy McCarrick presided at the October meeting of Three Score Seniors.
Winnie Kemp gave invocation and the benediction.
Mary Ellen Groves introduced Carrie Oliver Schult as entertainment for the evening. She sang songs from movies.
Reports were given by Secretary Barbara Purks and Treasurer George Pohlman. Membership Chair Brenda Edwards collecting dues through December. Pictures were taken by new member Ed Powell.
Sunshine Chair Winnie Kemp reported on cards that had been sent on the club’s behalf and announced birthdays. Reservations Chair Vivian Weigel introduced guests Denise Shade and Cindy Steiner.
House chair Lee Edwards had updated albums on display. Regina Truax displayed her 2020 trips.
With no nominations from the floor for officers in 2020, the 2019 officers agreed to continue to serve in their positions.
Kathy McCarrick asked for box items to be brought in November instead of canned goods.
Prizes went to Cookie Veltri, Lee Edwards, Marge Serafini, Joe Veltri, Sonny Marino, Josie Elliott, Diann Ceraolo, Mary Ellen Groves, Lois Dick, Cil Fridley, Frank Fazio and Joe Pulice.
Cove Presbyterian Church
to host quarter auction
WEIRTON — Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main St., Weirton, will be hosting a quarter auction on Sunday to benefit the church.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m. with the auction to begin at 1:30 p.m. Admission of $5 includes one paddle. Additional paddles are $1 each. Those who bring a nonperishable item will get a free paddle.
Vendors will include Moe’s on Main, Paparozzi, Avon, Tupperware, Pink Zebra, Thirty-One, Damsel in Defense. There also will be food, a 50/50 drawing and a Chinese auction. For information, call Vicki Williams at (304) 479-1663.
