Fidelis Gamma Chapter gives teachers treat baskets
STEUBENVILLE — The West Virginia Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators met Nov. 7 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner in Steubenville. Hostesses were Donna Roman and Nancy Holdsworth, assisted by Carolyn Allison.
Membership Chairman Ruth Fuller introduced prospective member Diane Plesa. The thought for the day and blessing were given by Chaplain Lisa Subrick.
Secretary Bonnie Queses read the minutes and correspondence from Weirton Medical Auxiliary and the director of maternal child services. Treasurer Carolyn Allison gave her report.
Alpha Delta Kappa Month Chairman Nancy Deters reported that three treat baskets were distributed to teachers at Brooke Intermediate North, Follansbee, in recognition of Alpha Delta Kappa Month. Lyles Auto recognized Alpha Delta Kappa Month on its marquis.
Altruistic Chairman Nancy Conley continues to take grooming items and supplies to the Geriatric facility, Gabriel Room and Weirton Medical Center.
The 2019-020 budget was approved.
The Ohio Valley District meeting held Oct. 26 in Glendale was attended by Allison, WV Protocol Chairman Diane Higgins, President Jerry DeFilippo, President-Elect Janet Benzo and Past President Ruth Fuller. Many chapters from Chester to Parkersburg were in attendance.
Nominating committee representatives Liz Pugh, Carolyn Allison and Ruth Fuller will be compiling a list of individuals for upcoming chapter offices for 2020-22.
The Tri-Chapter Christmas Brunch will include Fidelis Gamma, Alpha Tau and Alpha Kappa chapters of Alpha Delta Kappa. Alpha Kappa will host the event that begins at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 7 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant in Steubenville. Fidelis Gamma Chapter will hold a brief meeting following the event.
DeFilippo announced that state officer applications are due Jan. 31. The WV Alpha Delta Kappa State Convention will be held April 24-26 at Canaan Valley Resorts.
DeFilippo also announced that Fidelis Gamma Chapter was recognized and given a certificate for being a Seven Pearl Chapter. She presented a certificate of membership to 2019 members Shirley DeLuca, Eileen Snyder and Nancy Holdsworth.
The next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 5 at Williams Country Club in Weirton.
