Today’s community page is devoted to candid photos I took when the YWCA of Steubenville held its fourth-annual Women of Distinction awards banquet Nov. 21 at Hellenic Hall in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, honoring the community contributions of six area women.

They included Schelley Brooks, Trailblazer award; Patricia Fletcher, community and civic affairs; Karla Gregory-Martin, education, arts and literature; Kelly Jeffers, Rising Star award; Phyllis Riccadonna, health and sciences; and Stephanie Rivers, business and professional services.

Memorials acknowledged were in remembrance of Patricia Albaugh and Darlene Colburn, both of whom had been longtime volunteers with the YWCA and had served as its president.

Sophie Spencer, YWCA executive director, extended welcoming remarks, and Shari Jo Watkins served as mistress of ceremonies.

The story about the event appeared in the Nov. 23 issue of the Herald-Star.

Other candids are in today’s print edition.
