MINGO JUNCTION — Knox Township Trustee Joe Adamovich received the highest honors by being named the 2019 Township Official of the Year during the recent 52nd-annual Raymond C. Amoroso Christmas dinner and awards banquet held at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall.

Scott Fabian, master of ceremonies, presented the award to Adamovich during the annual Jefferson County Township Association event.

The Hometown Leadership Award, meanwhile, was presented to John Corrigan, longtime Jefferson County clerk of courts.

Fabian extended the welcome, and the Rev. Mike Bongart gave the invocation and the benediction. Terry Bell, president of the Jefferson County Township Association, introduced and thanked the sponsors for the event. Fabian also recognized elected officials, neighboring county officials and Ohio Township Association board members attending.

The Jefferson County Township Association chose to recognize Herman “Zerg” Zerger, a World War II veteran and lifelong resident of Woodsfield, Ohio, with an honorary membership. “Herman used his 20 years as a trustee to help people, and he exemplified the importance of the township form of government,” Bell said of the award presented on Dec. 7, the 78th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The retirements of Connie Fink, OTA president, and Matt DeTemple, OTA executive director, were acknowledged, with gratitude expressed for their service to the Ohio Township Association and townships.

Door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and a $1,500 cash drawing completed the evening.
