Steubenville Saddle Club’s
awards banquet Saturday
STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville Saddle Club will hold its 2019 awards banquet on Saturday at the Four Season Community Center on state Route 213, Steubenville.
It is the former Pleasant Hill Elementary School.
Doors open at 1 p.m. with the covered-dish meal to get under way at 2 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish and a dessert along with a small gift.

The club has set 2020 show dates for the 2020 season, returning to a schedule of four events.
They are set for May 17, June 14, July 12 and Sept. 13 at the club grounds on state Route 152 N.
Free luncheon Thursday
at East Springfield church
EAST SPRINGFIELD — Christ United Methodist Church, 203 Church St., will be hosting a free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday in the church fellowship hall.
All are welcome to attend, according to Greg Bush, the church’s pastor.
Benefit pasta dinner Friday at Pleasant Hill Fire Department
STEUBENVILLE — A benefit pasta dinner for 3-month-old Camden Brooks, son of Alexis Brooks of Toronto and grandson of Joshua and Rita Brooks, will be held on Friday at the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department, state Route 213.
It will be held from 3 p.m. to whenever and is being sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
The pasta meal for $10 includes a pasta choice of spaghetti, fettucine or penne; sauce choice of marinara, alfredo, red cream or oil and garlic; and Italian bread or garlic sticks.
Meatballs, desserts and drinks also will be available for purchase. For carryout orders, call (740) 282-9601. There also will be a Chinese auction and a 50-50 drawing.
Proceeds will go toward medical-related expenses for Camden’s family as he faces several surgeries to repair his “very severe cleft palate.”
Free community dinner
Thursday at Wellsburg church
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Presbyterian Church, 901 Charles St., Wellsburg, will host a free spaghetti dinner from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
It is open to the community, according to a church spokesperson.
Two census job fair dates
are announced at YWCA
STEUBENVILLE — The YWCA of Steubenville, located at 320 N. Fourth St., will be hosting a 2020 census job fair on two dates.
The first will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, the second from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 27.
The pay rate is $16 per hour. Applicants will be able to apply online at both fairs.
According to a news release, the census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers and many other use to provide daily services, products and support for our community.
Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads and other resources based on census data.
