Weirton Lions Club community service project

Weirton Lions Club members gathered at their regular meeting to assemble hygiene bags to donate to the Friendship Room in Steubenville for distribution to individuals in need. The hygiene bags included items such as soap, hand sanitizer, tooth brushes and toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, hand wipes; shampoo; Kleenex and other needed articles, all of which were donated by individual club members. The Weirton club also plans on participating in the Weirton Christian Center Community Garden project, planting a tree or trees in the local area. Other community projects are in the works as well, according to a spokesperson. The club continues to provide eye exams and glasses for those in need in Weirton and collects used eye glasses and hearing aides to be refurbished and used elsewhere. Anyone is interested in helping with club projects or joining the club can contact President Bernice Pitcock at (304) 797-8374. Involved in the project were club members, from left, Madonna Smearman, Kathy Adams, Kurt Halligan, Jim Courtney, Jaime Halligan and Bernice Pitcock.
