Salvation Army of Steubenville

gives update announcements

STEUBENVILLE — The Salvation Army of Steubenville, located at 332 N. Fourth St., made several announcements in a Facebook post update Thursday.

It noted that while Friday mornings have been reserved to assist seniors and immunodeficient individuals, the Salvation Army office is closed today in observance of Good Friday.

Things the Salvation Army is able to accept, according to the post, include:

– Monetary donations, which can be sent to P.O. Box 1226, Steubenville, OH 43952. Checks can be made payable to the Salvation Army of Steubenville.

– Prayer requests can be called in to (740) 282-5121 or (844) 485-HOPE.

– Physical donations such as nonperishable food items, can be placed into the Salvation Army’s outdoor pantry.

What cannot be accepted at this time are clothing donations; any request other than spiritual and food needs with deliveries not able to be provided; and any court-ordered community service individuals.

Mingo Woman’s Club cancels

April meeting, May banquet

MINGO JUNCTION — At the recommendation of its board, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Mingo Junction has decided to cancel the club’s April and May meetings.

That also means there will be no May banquet, which would have included acknowledgment of the club’s 90th anniversary being federated.

“It is our sincere hope to celebrate this milestone at a later date,” club President Sharon Cole-Isner noted in a recent communication to the membership. “We will hold a meeting over the summer to plan the fall conference that we will be hosting.”

Online programming in session from Ohio’s public libraries

STEUBENVILLE — The doors are shut, but online programming is in session from public libraries across the state.

Ohio’s 251 public libraries have always shared resources, and now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, programming such as story hours, book chats and trivia are being shared, too — online.

The state library has compiled a list of online library programs happening weekly for anyone to enjoy, and a library card is not needed to virtually attend, according to Jennifer Cesta, public relations coordinator for the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.

The list is available at the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County’s website at www.steubenvillelibrary.org. Go to the “About” tab, then scroll to “News” to find it. Each week, the local library system will post the updated list from the state library. The online events are listed by each day of the week and include a description and link.
