Friday meal program to start at Sycamore Youth Center

The Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, will hold a weekend meal distribution program beginning on Friday and continuing through early July. The program, which will be conducted every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is funded partially by a grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, according to Bobbyjon Bauman, the center’s founder and director, who is shown with Rebecca Schaming, assistant director. Further donations will be received to help fund this program as well as to sustain the 43 after-school programs provided for more than 300 students in the Upper Ohio Valley, especially in light of the March 12 cancellation of the center’s annual fundraising dinner. Steubenville City Schools will be providing lunches for students throughout the week from 10 a.m. to noon. The Sycamore Youth Center, meanwhile, will be providing food for the children to last throughout the weekend in order to meet the gap in services so students will be able to have meals seven days a week. For information, contact Bauman at (608) 556-3068 or visit www.sycamorecenter.com
