Cadiz Women’s Golf League

Play of the day for the Cadiz Women’s Golf League on June 17 was “Throw out your highest score on the front nine and on the back nine.”

Winners included: A flight, Janice Cook; B flight: Kathy Smith; and C flight, Glenda Sensel. Ginny Ferrell won the fairway skill game when she hit 17 out of 18 fairways with her drives. Janice Cook and Paula Hope were the putt winners.

The following players had birdies: Roberta Cireddu, Janis Cook, Glenda Sensel, Carol Lepic, Billie Stanwick and Kathy Newburn. The following had chip-ins: Karen Sims, Ginny Ferrell, Jane Galigher, Carol Lepic, Billie Stanwick, Bonnie Beetham and Sandy Terek.

Next week the play of the day will be “N.O.S.E.” Cathy Jackson and Kathy Newburn will serve as hostesses.

Red Oaks

On June 8, the women of the Red Oaks played the back nine, and the play of the day was low gross.

The winning players were: First, Kathy Moore; second, Yuko Atwell; and third, Signa Findlay. Brenda McKlosky had the longest drive on hole No. 12 and closest to the pin on hole No. 17.

Low putt honors went to Neysa McCart. Pat Carey had a chip-in on hold No. 16.

On June 15, the play of the day was “Bingo, Bango, Bongo” with points earned on each hole for first to reach the green, closest to the pin and first to put the ball in the hole.

The winners were: First, Ruth Lamantia; second, Yuko Atwell; and third, Lorraine Parsons. Brenda McKloskey had the longest drive on hold No. 5. Linda Caputo was the closest to the pin on second shot on hole No. 6. Lamantia, Atwell and Caputo shared honors for lowest putts.

All women golfers are welcome to play in this league on Mondays at 5 p.m. Call the golf course the day of play to sign up before 3:30 p.m. The number to call is (740) 944-1400.

Players should attempt to be at the course at least 20 minutes before the 5 p.m. tee-off time so teams can be formed. The last Monday of each month the league plays at Highland Springs in Wellsburg with the same start time.

Spring Hills

Spring Hills Ladies Thursday Evening Golf League played June 18 with the following winners:

Overall low team gross went to Debbie Phillippi, Brenda McCloskey and Tammy Cox.

Flight winners were: A, Cynde Vidas; B, Brenda McCloskey; and C, Tammy Koutsky.

Long drive winners were: A, Debbie Phillippi; B, Judy Galbraith; and C, Tammy Koutsky.

Closest to the pin winners were: A, Cynde Vidas; B, none; and C, Tammy Koutsky.

Chip-in and low putts went to Vickie Grant.

Judy Galbraith won the 50-50 drawing.

Town and Country

Town and Country Golf played “Best score odd holes” on June 11.

Winners were: A flight, Wanda Retzer; B flight, Pat Zorne; and C flight, Rose Kaczmarek. Low putts were recorded by Patty Saccoccia, and a chip-in on hole No. 9 was recorded by Toni Jean Dondzila.

Other winners were:

Long drive hole No. 2: A flight, Kathy Antinone; B flight; Zorne; and C flight, Kaczmarek.

Long drive hole No. 5: A flight, Saccoccia; B flight, Zorne; and C flight, Shirley Guida.

Closest to pin hole No. 8: A Flight, Antinone; B flight, Dondzilla; and C flight, Kaczmarek.

Town and Country Golf played “Best Score Even Holes” ono June 18. Winners were: A flight, Laura Froehlich;B flight, Pat Zorne; and C flight, Rose Kaczmarek. Low putts was Kaczmarek.

Other winners were:

Long drive hole No. 1: A flight, Signa Findlay; B flight, Norma Henson; and C flight, Shirley Guida.

Long drive hole No. 7: A flight, Froehlich; B flight, Zorne; and C flight, Guida.

Closest to the pin hole No. 4: A flight, Froehlich; B flight, Henson; and C flight, Kaczmarek.

Any woman is welcome to join for play on Thursdays at 10 a.m. at Spring Hills Golf Course.
