Back-to-School prayer service
is scheduled for Thursday
STEUBENVILLE — There will be a Moms In Prayer Back-To-School Prayer Service on Facebook LIVE through the Sycamore Youth Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
The theme is “Our God is Light.”
“The Rev. Paulnetta Barner will be encouraging us with a powerful message,” noted Bobbyjon Bauman, president of the Ohio Valley Youth Network, which is joining with the Moms in Prayer organizations in Jefferson County to sponsor the event.
Pamela Bauman will be leading in a number of worship songs.
“Tune in as we pray to the Lord for all Jefferson County children, school administration, teachers and support staff,” Bauman explained, directing viewers to go to the Sycamore Youth Center Facebook Page to watch the event live.
Barner serves in ministry at Second Baptist Church in Steubenville, where she is assisting her husband, Marvin E. Barner Jr., in ministering. They have three children, Bryan, 27; Kaitlynn, 14; and Khyla, 12.
Barner earned a bachelor of arts degree in social work from the University of Akron and a masters degree in clinical social work from the University of Southern Indiana. She is professionally licensed in Ohio and West Virginia and has served in various capacities throughout her professional career. Currently she is a behavioral health counselor for Coleman Professional Services.
The Jefferson County Moms in Prayer Group is made up of a number of Moms in Prayer groups in in the county that pray for schools and children on a weekly basis, Bauman explained. There are groups that meet for many area schools, including Harding, Steubenville High School, Catholic Central High School, Bishop John King Mussio and the Jefferson County Christian School.
“There are probably a total of 30 women in the groups that pray on a regular basis. The group was started by Pamela Bauman four years ago through the Ohio Valley Youth Network,” he added.
“They have a back-to-school prayer meeting each year that has had between 100-120 people,” he noted.
