Spaghetti dinner to benefit festival

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Community Days committee will be selling spaghetti dinners for take-out only beginning at noon Sunday.

The cost is $9 for the meals, which will include spaghetti with a large meatball, bread, salad and slice of cake.

CBB charity in need of help

WEIRTON — The Community Bread Basket charity needs help providing Thanksgiving meals to residents in need, so it has launched the Adopt a Turkey program.

“Community Bread Basket usually receives 150 turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas distribution. We will not receive the turkeys this year,” noted Jim Pauchnik, board member. Tara Sheperd, program administrator, is asking people to donate $15 or a gift card for a turkey. For information, call (304) 748-7595.

Nutrition program continuing

FOLLANSBEE — The Brooke County Senior Center in Follansbee continues to provide meals to local seniors for takeout from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Through its senior nutrition program, the Brooke County Committee on Aging also delivers meals to shut-ins in Brooke and Hancock counties. For information, call (304) 527-3410.

Library to screen film

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-rated film, “The Secret: Dare to Dream,” which is based on the Rhonda Byrne book, at noon Nov. 20.

Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.

Adena Lions selling roses, carnations

ADENA — The Adena Lions Club is holding its annual flower sale, selling roses and carnations.

The flowers are available by the dozen. Roses are $20 and available in a choice of red, pink, yellow or assorted. Carnations are $15 and available in a choice of red, pink, white or assorted. Orders can be placed through Monday by calling (740) 415-8263. Orders will be delivered Nov. 24.

Applications accepted for toy drive

WELLSBURG — Organizers of the Bernie’s Kids Christmas Toy Drive will be accepting applications from Brooke County families until Nov. 27. Held with help from the Brooke County Deputy Sheriffs Association, the grassroots charity isn’t able to provide gifts for youth over 12 years old or video games or other expensive electronic items.
