‘Heart & Home Holiday’ virtual party set

PITTSBURGH — The Joe Beretta Foundation is having its first virtual event on Dec. 5, beginning at 7 p.m.

The “Heart & Home Holiday Party” will be hosted by Santa himself and will respect social distancing. Patrons can attend the holiday event as an individual, in the privacy of their own home, or they can add a few family members and friends to their holiday party list.

As a party host, individuals will qualify for one of five $100 Visa gift cards as well as receive a party kit by mail, which includes cookies and hot chocolate. For information or to register as a host, visit www.TheJoeBerettaFoundation.com.

The party will include entertainment, music, prizes and testimonials from patients and their families. There also will be comments from medical experts at UPMC. The online silent auction will be open one week prior to the event for some holiday shopping. Event registration is free.

The Joe Beretta Foundation, a local nonprofit founded in July of 2016, has partnered with UPMC to raise funds for end-stage heart failure patients. It exists to meet the practical needs of these patients and their families, according to a spokesperson. The foundation has spoken to and assisted more than 250 patients and their families through all programs since January 2019 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland. The Pittsburgh-based mission is to ease the burden by providing funds and services to those suffering in the Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia areas.
