Chapter learns about district

book study, online social hour

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Alpha Tau chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its February meeting online through Zoom.

Diane Bowers, president, called the meeting to order.

Chaplain Kathy Griffith gave a reading from “Mornings with Jesus.” Roll call was taken, and the minutes were read by Secretary Velda Icard. Treasurer Fran Jones gave the financial report.

Bowers discussed the upcoming district book study on “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.” Special guest W.Va. state President Pat Hardin invited the chapter to attend the WV Love-In, an online social hour, providing participants the opportunity to chat with other members throughout the state.

Icard gave a presentation on skin care, targeting issues associated with wearing facial masks and coverings.

Pam Robinson won the door prize.

The next meeting will be virtual and held March 9.

Weirton fish fry offerings,

procedure to order explained

WEIRTON — St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive in Weirton is having fish fries every Friday during Lent, beginning Friday.

The hours will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and all orders are for takeout only.

The menu is a fish dinner, $10, which includes fish (baked or fried), fries and a choice of cole slaw or applesauce; a fish sandwich, $6; side dishes of either french fries or haluski, $3, or cole slaw or applesauce, $1. Beverages available will be water or pop for $1.

To place an order, call (304) 723-4120 and leave a name and phone number. “Please do not leave your order on the answering machine. You will be called back,” a spokesperson explained.

Steubenville Saddle Club is

planning meeting for March 2

EAST SPRINGFIELD — The Steubenville Saddle Club is planning a meeting for 7 p.m. March 2 at the East Springfield Community Center, located at county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

The agenda is expected to include the election of officers and discussion about the 2021 show season.

Show dates at the club grounds, located at 8675 state Route 152, Richmond, tentatively are set for May 16, June 20, July 25 and Sept. 19.

For the safety of members, the club decided to cancel its year-end banquet.

Community of Christ Church offering free soup to go

WELLSBURG — Community of Christ Church on 26th Street will again be offering a variety of free soup to go on Feb. 25.

It will be available beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until it’s all gone.
