Helping children attend camp

Contributed

Vanessa Beaver of Sweet Temptations Pastry Shop, 3666 Lindberg Way, Weirton, has launched a fundraiser to help send low-income children to camp through the Salvation Army. “Children who grow up in low-income homes rarely get the chance to do local things let alone have a chance to vacation or go to summer camp,” Beaver noted. “The Salvation Army has an incredible camp that teaches structure, new skills and self reliance. To raise money Beaver is conducting a drawing for a basket of items valued in excess of $300. It includes a purse/backpack by Botkier of New York, a pendant necklace by Jenny Bird and Toms Sunglasses. Tickets are $5 for one; $10 for three; and $20 for six. Donations also are being accepted for those not wanting to be entered in the giveaway. A winner will be picked on May 5.
