Woman’s Club of Steubenville installs officers, awards student scholarship

STEUBENVILLE — The OFWC/GFWC Woman’s Club of Steubenville has resumed meetings after a 15-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Installation of club officers highlighted the recent luncheon meeting held at Scaffidi’s Restaurant in Steubenville.

Mary Beth Allan, president of the Southeast Ohio River District of the Ohio Federation, conducted the installation services.

The slate includes Carlotta Jordan, president; Dr. Susanne Escobar, vice president; Judy Brancazio, secretary; Cookie West, treasurer; and Marge Bedortha, corresponding secretary.

Kathy Mills introduced Grace McCart, a recent graduate of Catholic Central High School who plans to attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.. The recipient of a club scholarship of $1,000, she was presented with the gift by Margaret Brown, education chairman.

The club will resume meetings for the 2021-22 club year, beginning Sept. 2 at a location to be announced. The group normally meets on the first Monday of the month except for September when that falls on the Labor Day holiday.
