STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Valley Health Center, located at 423 South St., Steubenville, continues to seek new ways of fundraising amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Last year, due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our annual gala that has been a primary source of fundraising for 14 years, so, our board of directors opted to solicit our community through a letter campaign to raise vital funds for the health center,” explained Ann Quillen, the center’s executive director.

“This year we felt it was once again necessary to postpone our annual gala, but we’re excited to continue our fundraising efforts in a fun, new way to support the Ohio Valley Health Center.

That “fun, new way” translates into the health center’s inaugural “Kickin’ It for OVHC Kick Ball Tournament,” which is scheduled for Aug. 7 at Belleview Park, beginning at 10 a.m.

“We’ve reserved the top two fields at Belleview for a double-elimination-style tournament,” Quillen noted. Teams must be co-ed with a two-woman minimum and should be comprised of at least 10 players. There also will be concessions and drawing items at the tournament as well as prizes for the winning team and best team uniform,” she added.

The registration fee is $200 for a team with the registration deadline being noon Aug. 6. Call or text (740) 457-2592 to register.

According to a news release, the Ohio Valley Health Center recently has been revitalized with new leadership, including Quillen as executive director, and many new medical providers.

The center is the only clinic in Jefferson County to offer high-quality health care to uninsured and underinsured individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay.

The clinic is open for care and is accepting new patients.
