Library programs on growing herbs, understanding weather

STEUBENVILLE — A variety of programs and activities are available to patrons of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. Here is a look at what’s being offered:

Main Library, (740) 282-9782

Adults: “Grow Herbs in Ohio Gardens” is on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Register in advance by calling. Learn how to successfully grow herbs indoors and outside with tips offered by an OSU Extension agent.

The Cozy Mystery book club will meet on July 9 at 2 p.m. to discuss “Endless Night” by Agatha Christie. Call to join.

Children: Pick up a take-home craft anytime on July 7.

“Science of Weather” will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday. Children in grades prekindergarten through six can participate in fun science experiments while learning how weather works with author Dianna Perry.

Children: “Science of Weather” will be offered on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. For children in pre-kindergarten through grade six. It offers fun science experiments while learning how weather works with author Dianna Perry.

Adults and Teens

Outdoor Pour Painting is set for July 10, beginning at 2 p.m. Register in advance by calling.

Children: “Science of Weather is Thursday at 3 p.m. for children in prekindergarten through grade six.

Adults: “Building up Garden Soils” is the topic on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Register in advance. OSU Extension agent will offer instruction on insight on how soils are the foundation to every garden. Participants will learn how to identify soil types and how to make garden soils more productive. Soil test kits will be available for $10 for those interested in learning about their home garden soil pH and fertility.

Children: “Science of Weather is Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. for children ages prekindergarten through grade six.

Children: “Science of Weather” is on Wednesday at 11 a.m. for children ages prekindergarten through sixth grade.

“Summer Fun for Little Ones” begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday. This outdoor program is geared for ages 2-7 and includes stories and a take-home craft.

Teens: Pick up a Macrame Mermaid Tail Keychain kit on July 7 anytime at the library, then watch for instructions on the library’s YouTube Channel, PLSJ.

Children: “Science of Weather” is July 9 at 11:30 a.m. Children in prekindergarten through sixth grade can participate.

Toronto Branch, (740) 537-1262

Children: “Science of Weather” begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday for children in prekindergarten through sixth grade.

Children can stop in anytime July 6-10 for a take-home craft.
