Railroaders invited to attend

breakfast meeting Thursday

CHESTER — All railroaders are invited to attend a breakfast meeting at E.J.’s Restaurant, located at 807 Carolina Ave., set for Thursday.

All retired and current railroaders and crafts are welcome to attend the get-togethers that are held on the third Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. at EJ’s.

Grace’s Cupboard food pantry scheduled to be open Thursday

STEUBENVILLE — Grace’s Cupboard, the food pantry at Grace Lutheran Church at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, will be open on Thursdayfrom 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Future dates are subject to change, according to a church spokesperson.

East Springfield VFD Auxiliary

fundraiser dinner on Sunday

EAST SPRINGFIELD — The East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be holding a pork loin dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the fire hall, l9845 county Road 39.

The dinner includes pork loin, baked potato, corn, cottage cheese or applesauce, roll and dessert. The cost is $10. Patrons can dine in or get takeout. Delivery will be available. To place an order or request delivery, call (740) 543-3563. The fundraisesr will include a 50-50 drawing.

Tri-State Marine Corps

Auxiliary aids Toys for Tots

WEIRTON — The Tri-State Marine Corps Club met Oct. 11 with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order.

Chaplain Mary Ann Smith led in prayer, that included ones for individuals whose names were provided by Marcy Spano, secretary.

A report on sympathy cards sent on behlf of the club was given. Brecht led members in the pledge to the flag. Vice President Darlene Kemp conducted roll call, and Spano read the minutes from the September meeting, which were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given and approved as well.

The group voted to make a donation to the Toys for Tots program. Veterans Day will be observed Nov. 11, and Spano will place the wreath on behalf of the auxiliary.

The auxiliary voted to retain the current roster of officers for two more years. at the suggestion of Edith Truax, nominating chair.

Refreshments were provided by the auxiliary. Barbara Glessner won the 50-50 drawing, donating it back to the treasury. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the VFW hall in Weirton.

Wintersville church offering

trick-or-treat festivities Oct. 30

WINTERSVILLE — Wintersville Church of the Nazarene at 377 Longvue Drive, Wintersville, will be offering free cider and doughnuts while children are out trick-ot-treating on Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Church representatives will be passing out candy, and children can make a take-home craft at the free event.
