An ‘Old-Fashioned Country

Christimas Concert’ Thursday

at Sycamore Youth Center

STEUBENVILLE — The fourth-annual “Old-Fashioned Country Christmas Concert” will be held Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Youth Center, 301 N. Fourth St.

It will feature the 2021 Valley’s Got Talent winner Lynzee Ensell and 2020 winner Faire May, according to Bobbyjon Bauman, center director.

“This may be the best event we do all year as we feature 20 of the top young artists in the area singing one Christmas song each in a festive setting with Sycamore decked out in decorations from the era of the 1940s,” Bauman notyed.

“We also have an intermission with food and drinks from that time period as well. It is a family friendly festive evening of food and fun that I promise you will love,” he added.

The event is free and open to all ages.

Effort helps Santa Claus send

personalized letters to children

WELLSBURG — The Friends of the Brooke County Public Library is helping Santa Claus to send personalized letters to children.

The cost is $2.50 each. Adults can arrange for them up to Dec. 17 by stopping by the library or its Follansbee branch or visiting http://lettersfromsantabcpl.weebly.com.

Santa, tree trimming, caroling part of Bloomingdale festivities

BLOOMINGDALE — Come Saturday, starting at 5 p.m., Santa Claus himself will be traveling through Bloomingdale and the surrounding areas, inviting everyone naughty or nice to join him at the Bloomingdale Village Building on East Steubenville Street at 5:30 p.m. for the annual Bloomingdale trim-a-tree and Christmas caroling.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring an ornament to help decorate the tree.

After caroling, there will be cookies and hot chocolate served a the town hall, 101 E. Steubenville St.

Santa will be there to hear the wishes of all the girls and boys and to pass out treats before returning to the North Pole to check his list and pack his sleigh for the big day.

Jonathan White to perform Sunday at Follansbee church

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee First Church of the Nazarene, located at 144 Mahan Lane, Follansbee, will welcome a performance by renowned gospel tenor Jonathan White on Sunday during the 10:45 a.m. service.

White’s main goal in ministry is to encourage Christians in their walk with God. “He wants to let people know that some of the things we think are burdens may turn out to be the greatest blessings we ever receive,” a church spokesperson noted.

Jonathan has had the opportunity to sing for many audiences, including the Grand Ole Opry and the Bill Gaither Homecoming series.

Several events at Paris church

BURGETTSTOWN — Paris Presbyterian Church, located at 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, welcomes anyone to stop by the Gathering Place for coffee and conversation Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We also continue to offer free soup for dine-in or take-out on Wednesdays at noon,” explained Joel Peterson, director of outreach.

Author Annette Dashofy will speak about the latest books in her Zoe Chambers series of mysteries at noon Wednesday.

The Ron Retzer Trio will be performing a Christmas concert on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A dinner — salad, chicken, sides and dessert — will precede the concert at 5:30 p.m. RSVPs for the meal are required by Wednesday by contacting Judy in the church office at (724) 729-3450. Any donations will support future concerts at Paris Presbyterian.

An informal coffee house worship service will be held in the Gathering Place on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. with a light meal preceding at 6 p.m.
