John F. Murray, an operations specialist 2nd class (surface warfare), has received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
The son of John and Latisha of Steubenville, Murray was recognized for meritorious service as a recruiter in Pittsburgh in August.
According to the commendation, Murray “attained outstanding recruiting results distinguished by exemplary and highly professional recruiting.” His “expert recruiting techniques … contributed to a phenomenal recruiting production pace, resulting in the attainment of numerous command goals.”
Murray’s work “inspired his peers to strive for higher levels of excellence and was a motivational catalyst” for the region to meet its recruiting goals.
He has “upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service,” the commendation added.
