Club remembers and donates
WEIRTON — The International Senior Club met June 13 at Undo’s Restaurant in Weirton, with Vice President Tony La Rosa leading the meeting with an invocation. He wished members a Happy Father’s Day then led in a moment of silence for Frank Wisnieski, who recently died.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Larry Purks, members joined in the singing of, “God Bless America” and a sit-down dinner was enjoyed by those in attendance.
President Regina Truax welcomed back members Jim and Barbara Cerra and Leonard and Dolores Ginier. The minutes were read and approved by Secretary Rita Orler.
Norma Henson gave the treasurer’s report. The report was approved and filed for audit.
Truax stated canned goods and monetary donations were collected for the Salvation Army. The items will be delivered by Gabriel Arlia.
“Happy Birthday” was sung to members having a birthday in June. Get-well and sympathy cards were sent to members by Barbara Purks.
Liz Beecroft read the joke of the day.
The following bus tours were announced: Tuesday, Gateway Clipper, Pittsburgh; July 21, Hartville Market Place and Flea Market; Sept. 17, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees, PNC Park, Pittsburgh; Sept. 20-22, Seneca Niagara Falls Casino; Oct. 13, MGM Casino, Northfield; Oct. 21, Rock and Roll Doo Wop, Capitol Theater, Wheeling.

Father’s Day prizes were awarded to Dino Rossi, George Williamson, Dean Ligas, Carl Truax, Ron Fallert, Jim Cerra, Tony LaRosa, Harry Logan, Leonard Ginier, Bobby Arlia, Gabriel Arlia, Terry Mamula, Purks and Gene Viola.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Barb Guglielmo.
Undo’s gift certificates were won by Logan and Purks.
Bingo winners were Barbara Purks, Angiee Veltri, Norma Henson, Debbie Liagas, Gabriel Arlia, Dolores Ginier and Angie Mazur.
The next meeting of the International Senior Club will be held July 11 at Undo’s.
The annual picnic is scheduled for Aug. 8 at Follansbee Park.

East Sprinfield to hold dinner
EAST SPRINGFIELD — The East Springfield Community Center will hold a dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 13 at its facility, located on county Road 39 next to the firehouse. The menu will consist of baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, bread, dessert and a drink. The cost is $10. Carryout is available and everyone is invited to attend. Monthly food and clothing pantry
WEIRTON — The Evangel Baptist Church, located at 204 Old Colliers Way in Weirton, is offering a monthly food and clothing pantry distribution for those in need. The next distribution will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. July 9. The pantry is available to all residents in need throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. No proof of income is required.
