Upcoming library events

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced its upcoming events and activities at branches throughout the area.

Programs, crafts and more are being offered for members of the entire family, including children, teenagers and adults.

Anyone interested in attending the listed events can contact their nearest branch to register.

All branches will be offering the opportunity for you to fall in love at the library as you go on a “Blind Date With a Book.”

Stop by any branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County between Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 and pick up a covered book at the checkout counter.

Patrons won’t know the title until after they borrow it. What’s more to love, is that one lucky person at each location will win a box of chocolates. Be sure to look for the golden ticket.

Main Library (740) 282-9782

Children: Build a minifigure using LEGOs and play bingo at 2 p.m. Feb. 10. Registration is required.

Adults: Like reading a good mystery without all of the violence? Join the library’s Cozy Mystery Book Club. The group will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 9. Call to register.

Adena Branch (740) 320-0009

Teens: Design a bookmark at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5. Instruction and supplies will be provided. Registration is required.

Brilliant Branch (740) 314-4309

Children: Visit the library to get a grab-and-go Story Time on Feb. 5. Each bag contains a craft and the book “Valensteins: A Love Story,” by Ethan Long.

Adults: Learn how to make lasagna soup at the cooking corner at 6 p.m. Feb. 6. Registration is required.

Dillonvale and Mount Pleasant Branch (740) 314-4310

Teens: Design a bookmark at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Instruction and supplies will be provided. Registration is required.

Schiappa Branch (740) 264-6166

Children: Parents and caregivers with children ages birth to 4, can encourage them to love the library at an early age by attending Play and Learn. The activity will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 and at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 9.

Tot Time at the library is for children ages 2 to 4. Classes are limited to the first 15 children who are enrolled. The following is a list of dates and times being offered: 4 p.m. Mondays on Feb. 5, 12 and 19; 10 a.m. Tuesdays on Feb. 6, 13 and 20; and 10 a.m. Wednesdays on Feb. 7, 14 and 21. If the class is full, an additional class will be offered the next hour. If the class is full on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, an additional class will be offered the following hour.

Teens: Teens who attend this class at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7, will sew a stuffed frog to take home. Supplies are provided. Registration is required for this craft.

Tiltonsville Branch (740) 314-4280

Adults: Game night will be held at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Stop in to have fun by playing board and card games.

Toronto Branch (740) 537-1262

Children: Help develop early literacy skills for your baby, ages birth to 2, with books, songs and rhymes during Babygarten. mThe program starts at 11 a.m. Feb. 9. Registration is required.

Adults: Stop in to make a greeting card at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Registration is required.

Teens: Appreciate nature by making a bird feeder at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Supplies are provided. Registration is required.
