Farm festival coming to area
BLOOMINGDALE — A new festival is coming to the area, offering a weekend full of activities for people of all ages. An event for surrounding communities to attend.
The first County Road 39 Farm Festival is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14-15. The celebration will be held at 775 county Road 39 in Bloomingdale. The event’s planning committee announced their excitement for the opportunity to bring new excitement to the area during the fall season.
There is plenty to be offered throughout the upcoming weekend, committee members exclaimed, noting there will be a children’s entertainment corner, more than 30 craft and food vendors and several local food trucks.
The festival will begin each morning with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. A variety of foods will be offered throughout the remainder of the day, including food trucks from All-American Burger Co., Kathy’s Fresh Popped Kettle Corn, Ice Cream Island and Rusty Bull.
A flag-raising ceremony by local veterans will open the festival at 8 a.m. Sept. 14, coinciding with the pancake breakfast. An antique tractor show starts at 10 a.m.; a pie eating contest takes place at 1 p.m.; a dress-up pet parade will be held at 3 p.m.; and a cornhole tournament will start at 4 p.m. There will be a $10 entry fee to enter the tournament.
Entertainment will feature music and karaoke with Bobby Cline, beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., followed by Gary and Sam country music being performed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The planning committee announced the events taking place Sept. 15, with the 8 a.m. pancake breakfast kicking off the day’s activities.
Music and vendors will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon; a church service featuring music by Mary Lou Yaich will be held from noon to 1 p.m.; A car cruise-in with Frank Allen takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; the best in show awards will be announced at 3 p.m.; Chinese auction winners will be drawn at 4 p.m.; and veterans will lower the flag at 4:15 p.m. The festival concludes at 5 p.m.
