Three Score Seniors announce new officers
WEIRTON — Members of the Three Score Senior Club met for their October meeting, which was called to order by President Cathy McCarrick. A Halloween theme was used for the meeting, with candy being passed out prior to the start. Bob DiFonzo began the gathering with a prayer, then led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”
The evening’s entertainment was provided by the group Hollywood Ukuleles, which consists of seven ukulele players, along with a harmonica player.
Secretary Barbara Purks read the minutes from the September meeting, which those in attendance approved. Treasurer Brenda Edwards gave the financial report and stated she will be collecting dues until the end of the year. Dues remain the same cost as in previous years, she noted. Sunshine Chair Winnie Kemp addressed the group, beginning with a prayer, then saying she has sent get-well cards to Josi Elliott, Jim Hare and Cil Fridley. Ed Kennedy and Denise Shade were recognized and celebrated for having an October birthday. Reservation Chair Vivian Weigel reported 35 members and one guest were in attendance.
Linda Kennedy introduced Frank Bohach as the club’s nominee for president. Purks will continue as secretary and Edwards will once again be the group’s treasurer. Both agreed to stay on in their respective roles, officials said. Kathy McCarrick accepted the position of vice president. McCarrick and George Pohlman delighted those in the audience with jokes. Prizes were awarded to Rich Ceraolo, Lee Edwards, Rob Klepadlo, Weigel, Edwards, Lea Shirer and Jane Watson.
DiFonzo provided the benediction, after which the meeting was adjourned.
