Church updates its services
TORONTO — Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, located at 159 county Road 68 in Toronto, will continue to hold its Sunday morning worship services at 11 a.m.
“Through solid and friendly Christian worship, we will hold our services just how they used to be and how they still are today,” officials announced. “So, please come and let us share the light of Jesus with you.” They added that all are welcome.
The Rev. John and Krista Fitch are providing special music every Sunday, and the church is continuing to serve its funeral dinners, officials stated. However, due to the high electrical costs, the church has had to cancel its Wednesday meetings throughout January and February.
Richmond council to meet today
RICHMOND — The village of Richmond has rescheduled its Monday council meeting and moved it to today, officials commented. The move was made due to the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Lions to celebrate anniversary
FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Lions Club will celebrate its 85th anniversary with a dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern.
Present and past club members, along with supporters, are invited to attend the event. The cost will be $25. Reservations should be made by Jan. 30 by calling (304) 479-8067.
Anyone who has news clippings, photographs or other materials related to the club’s history are encouraged to bring those items with them to the dinner, officials said.
Museum to host NFL training camp
PITTSBURGH — To prepare for the Super Bowl, the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, located at the Sen. John Heinz History Center, will hold its NFL PLAY 60 Training Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 1.
The event will challenge children to get up and get moving, according to a spokesperson. The camp is being sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Admission to the museum is free for those who are 17 years of age and younger. Children of all ages can take part in the activities held throughout the center’s five floors. Activities include: Training in the mini-NFL Combine through a series of quick-hitting drills; discovering the region’s sports history while completing a list of physical challenges; unleashing creativty and best moves in the touchdown celebration contest; and blitzing the way to bragging rights by competing for prizes and giveaways from Dick’s.
Presented in partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL Play 60, the NFL’s health and fitness campaign was created to encourage young fans to be active for at least 60 minutes a day. Parents are invited to cheer their children on during the program and must remain on site while players are participating.

Escape room experience set
WHEELING–The international touring theater company Live History, will be coming to the West Virginia Independence Hall to offer the opportunity to take part in an immersive theatrical escape room experience. Nominated for the Governor General’s Award for history and community theater, the experience is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the hall, located at 1528 Market St. in Wheeling. Euchre tournament set for Feb. 16
FOLLANSBEE — A euchre tournament will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Follansbee American Legion. Signups will begin at 1 p.m. The cost to buy in will be $10.
Nominations being accepted
STEUBENVILLE — Trinity Health System’s Capital Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers will accept nominations for a “heart champion” during its Crimson Connections Champion event.
Ohio nominees must be women who reside in Jefferson, Harrison, Tuscarawas and Belmont counties. West Virginia nominees should reside in Brooke, Hancock and Ohio counties.
