Steubenville native Francis DuBois advanced to the Navy’s rank of chief petty officer during a promotion ceremony at the Washington Navy Yard. As one of seven musicians in the Navy Band selected for advancement to the E-7 paygrade, DuBois joins an elite list of sailors to wear the anchor collar devices that symbolize his new rank and authority. He joined the Navy Band in 2015 as a sound engineer following a successful audition for the Navy Band Cruisers music group. After completing basic training, he reported for duty to the band in Washington, D.C., where the group is headquartered. He served with the Cruisers until 2017 then became the sound engineer for the Sea Chanters chorus. DuBois transitioned to full-time staff and became the command’s head recording engineer. Prior to joining the Navy, DuBois earned a bachelor of music in music technology of Duquesne University.
