Public library announcing its upcoming activities and events for Feb. 2-8

STEUBENVILLE–The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced its upcoming events and activities for the week of Feb. 2-8.

Adults: Make a greeting card to send a friend at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Register to attend.

Tai Chi classes with certified instructor Mike Turrentine are being offered at 10 a.m. every Thursday. Spacing is n a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing.

Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6. This play session is for parents with children ages 2-6. Register to attend.

Make a painting with textured designs using bubble wrap at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Register to attend.

Children: Pick up a grab-and-go Story Time bag beginning Feb. 3, while supplies last. Each bag will contain the book “Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink,” by Diane deGroat, along with an activity.

National Bubble Gum Day will be held Feb. 7. Stop in and pick up a piece of gum to blow a bubble or two.

Teens: Make a friendship bracelet at 5 p.m. Feb. 4. Register to participate.

Teens and Adults: Ryan Nolan will teach the basics of using a camera to take great photos at 6 p.m. Feb. 5. Bring your camera and learn the settings, including shutter speed, aperture, ISO and how they affect your pictures. At the end of class, participants will feel confident to take their camera off of auto mode and capture moments like a professional. Registration is required.

Children: Tot Time will begin in February for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4.

The class will take place at 4 p.m. on Mondays, with dates set for Feb. 3, Feb. 10, Feb. 17 and Feb. 24.

Tot Time will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, with days to be Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 18 and Feb. 25. Sign in at the children’s desk prior to class. If the Tuesday class is full, an additional class will be offered the following hour.

The program is being offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, including Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26.

Those who wish to participate can sign in at the children’s desk prior to class. If the class is full, an additional class will be offered the following hour during the Wednesday program.

Play and Learn the Alphabet will take place for parents and their children who are between the ages of birth to 4.

The activity will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 and at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 7.

The class promotes toys that provide alphabet knowledge.
