Master gardener volunteers to hold program

SCIO — The season for growing has arrived. It is a time when a garden’s harvest becomes the star of the menu.

Vibrant fruits, fragrant herbs and a wide array of vegetables — the selection of colors, flavors and textures which can be grown at home — is unmatched.

Those with the Harrison and Jefferson Master Gardener Volunteers will hold a celebration of nature’s bounty and horticultural wisdom with a special program, set for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p/.m. April 26 at the Scio Library.

The event will take place on the lower level of the library, located at 221 W. Main St. in Scio.

“All garden enthusiasts and curious learners attending, will explore the diverse landscape of home garden production,” officials stated.

From cultivating kitchen herbs, grapes and tomatoes, to crafting aromatic potpourri and herbal vinegars, home garden production covers a number of offerings.

“Whether one is a seasoned gardener or a budding green thumb, this symposium will provide a landscape of learning, creativity and delicious possibilities,” officials commented.

The garden event will cost $30 per person, the price of which includes lunch and continental breakfast items and refreshments, courtesy of event sponsors and donors.

Pre-registration is required.

The deadline to register will be by 4:30 p.m. April 18.
