Master gardener volunteers to hold Gifts from the Garden event

SCIO — Area residents are preparing for the growing season.
In the coming weeks, the time will arrive when a garden’s harvest will become the star of a family’s menu.
From vibrant fruits and fragrant herbs to an array of vegetables that offer a variety of colors, flavors and textures, home-grown foods can not be matched, according to Harrison and Jefferson Master Gardener Volunteers.
Officials announced the upcoming Gifts from the Garden event, which is a celebration of nature’s bounty and horticultural wisdom, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26.
The symposium will be held on the lower level of the Scio Library branch, located at 331 W. Main St. in Scio.
All garden enthusiasts and curious learners are encouraged to attend.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the diverse landscape of home garden production, officials explained.
From cultivating kitchen herbs, grapes and tomatoes, to crafting aromatic potpourri and herbal vinegars, the symposium will offer something for everyone.
Whether one is a seasoned gardener or simply a budding green thumb, this event will be able to provide “a landscape of learning, creativity and delicious possibilities,” officials stated.
The cost of the program will be $30 per person.
Included in the price will be lunch and continental breakfast items, as well as refreshments provided by event sponsors and donors.Pre-registration is required. The deadline to register will be 4:30 p.m. Friday.
