STEUBENVILLE — The Sycamore Classical Choir treated audience members inside the Sycamore Youth Center, to “a vibrant and diverse musical experience.”

The young performers showcased their talents and appreciation for culture through an array of choral pieces, including a blend of classical hymns and international folk songs.

Under the direction of Zac Gordon and Jariel Henthorn, the choir performed selections in English, Polish, Lithuanian, Latin and Italian.

Hymns such as “My Song is Love Unknown” and “At the Lamb’s High Feast,” were complemented by international pieces, including the Polish tune “Kukułeczka,” “The Seafaring Shanty,” “John Kanaka,” the Lithuanian folk song “Pjoviau Šiena” and the Italian anthem “Bella Ciao.”

Sacred pieces, including “Ave Regina Caelorum,” “Be with Me, Lord” and “Jesus Prayer,” rounded out the program, which held “moments of reverence and beauty,” officials commented.

“The concert was outstanding,” said Bobbyjon Bauman, executive director of the Sycamore Youth Center. “The kids did a fantastic job. Their hard work and enthusiasm were evident in every song they performed.”

The Sycamore Classical Choir plans to continue rehearsals this summer in preparation for a fall recital, furthering its mission to cultivate musical excellence and cultural awareness among local youth. For information about upcoming performances and opportunities, visit sycamorecenter.com.
