Community center to hold dinner
EAST SPRINGFIELD–The East Springfield Community and Recreation Service Center will hold its May dinner fundraiser from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the center, located on county Road 39 next to the firehouse.
The menu will consist of creamed chicken over a biscuit, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, bread, desert and a drink for $12. Dine in or carry out will be available. To place a carryout order, call (740) 543-3700.
Wayne Township to hold dinner
BLOOMINGDALE — The Wayne Township Community Center, located at 3281 county Road 39 in Bloomingdale, will hold a fundraising dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
The menu will consist of pork, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, green beans, cole slaw, dessert and a drink at the cost of $15 per person.
Church to hold Mother’s Day services
BLOOMINGDALE — The Shaffer Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 1216 township Road 191 in Bloomingdale, will hold its Mother’s Day weekend celebration Saturday and Sunday.
A free conference call will serve as the church’s Mother’s Day worship experience at 5 p.m. Saturday. Those interested in participating should call (978) 990-5000 and use the access code 319939 to take part.
The Sunday service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. The speaker for both services will be Karena Burke from Cleveland. All area residents are welcome to join the services, officials stated.
Church to hold revival
BLOOMINGDALE — Shaffer Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 1216 township Road 191 in Bloomingdale, will host a revival at 4 p.m. May 12-14 at the church. The guest preacher will be the Rev. David Jason Atkins of Pittsburgh. The community is welcome to attend the revival.
Media Night event planned
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Undo’s Upper Ohio Valley will hold its annual Media Night event at 5:30 p.m. May 14. Activities will include the 2025 scholarship recipients, the Italian Americans of the Year, including this year’s honoree, Beau Catalano and recognizing sponsors.
Class of ’59 to hold luncheon
STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville High School’s Class of ’59 held its monthly luncheon April 9, with 18 people in attendance. Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing. Carl and Judy Bell provided the birthday cake for those celebrating an April birthday. The group’s next luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. May 14 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner. Board of directors to meet
WHEELING — The Board of Directors of Northern Panhandle Head Start Inc., will hold its annual corporation meeting at 10:30 a.m. May 14 at Orchard Park, located at 1 Orchard Road in Wheeling. The meeting will recognize the accomplishments of the program during the past year.
Created in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson’s war on poverty, Head Start is recognized as the premier, early childhood program in the United States. Its comprehensive programming focuses on the early education, health and nutritional well-being of young children and family advocacy support.
Jackie Bell, executive director, will present the annual report and the program’s achievements will be addressed. The meeting is open to the public.
The Northern Panhandle Head Start Inc. program provides comprehensive, early childhood development services for qualifying families who have children between the ages of birth and 5, including services to pregnant women who reside in Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall and Wetzel counties.

Church to hold supernatural campaign
NEW ATHENS — The New Athens First Presbyterian Church, located at 140 S. Main St. on state Route 9 in New Athens, will hold a Women of God Victory Campaign from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. A free lunch will be included.
The theme will be the Supernatural, featuring guest speakers Lisa Greathouse from Weirton, Tracey Mazeroski from Richmond and the Rev. Jan Simpson from Cadiz.
“This is where we want to laugh, love and experience God’s presence in our lives,” organizers stated. “We can get built up and encouraged in the Lord together.”

Rosebuds to hold spring meeting
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Dillonvale Rosebuds will host the spring regional meeting of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs at 9 a.m. May 17 at Mount Pleasant Evangelical Friends Church, located at 478 Union St. in Mount Pleasant.
The cost will be $15 to attend.
Guest speakers will be Erika Lyon from the Ohio State Jefferson-Harrison County Extension Office and Master Gardener Dawna Kale. Lyon will speak on “Drought and Gardening Conditions,” while Kale’s topic will be “Gardening Fact or Fiction.”
