Awkward: A man who owns property on township Road 311, Amsterdam, said he learned he was being robbed from Facebook’s Messenger app, Aug. 2. The man said when he arrived at the residence he noticed the side garage door open and his Honda Rancher ATV missing. A witness told him the thief left with it behind a white van, and minutes later he located the van and his missing ATV. The driver told him he’d been asked to pick it up by a man who’d bought it. The owner pointed out he hadn’t sold it.

Incident: Adena residents said a family member armed with a knife and under the influence of narcotics was on their porch, Thursday. The man, who eventually surrendered his knife to deputies, said he wanted his “medicine.”

Transaction: A man told deputies a woman he’d been chatting with online for several years sent him money she said was from the sale of a house and wanted him to send the money back to her. His bank intervened, telling him the money came from unemployment checks from three different states.

Arrested: Robert Phillipson, 30, 1367 township Road 1128 Toronto, failure to appear, Thursday.

Arrested: Stanley Alvin Potkoski, 29, of 429 Blairmont Road, domestic violence, possession of heroin, inducing panic, resisting arrest and aggravated menacing, Thursday.

Arrested: Joseph Kyle Moran, 34, 54 Maplewood Ave., Steubenville, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, Thursday.

Arrested: Shawn Birkhimer, 44, no fixed address, probation violation, Thursday.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners of property at 314 Lawson, 732 Rosswell, 1535 Euclid and 601 South St., litter, and 1510 Euclid, high grass.

Issues: Three vehicles in the 400 block of South Sixth Street. were ticketed for parking in a restricted area, Thursday.

Hit and fled: A woman told police she watched another woman back a black Dodge Ram into her rental vehicle, then pull away almost striking two other vehicles in the process. The driver side wheel well and quarter panel of the rental vehicle were dented. Witnesses said the errant driver had appeared intoxicated. Police were able to trace the license plate of the suspect vehicle to a Cherry Avenue residence , where they noted what appeared to be fresh damage on it. The vehicle was impounded.

Treatment: A man with a machete told police he was thinking about “snapping” and hurting someone, Thursday. He was voluntarily taken to a hospital for treatment.

Store fight: Darnell Ellis, 22, 519 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, was cited for disorderly conduct following a fight in the liquor store inside Kroger, Thursday. Witnesses said the fight erupted after Ellis entered the store alone. Ellis’s shirt was ripped and he had two small marks on his face, police said. The other party has yet to be identified.

Targeted: A woman in the 1300 block of Oak Grove who tried to deposit a $1,000 check by phone was denied, Thursday. The woman’s bank told her the check was bogus and closed the account.

Caught: A woman told police a subject known to her is fraudulently transferring funds from her child support card to her cashapp account, Wednesday. The woman said up to $400 has been moved illegally.
