Steubenville police

Startling discovery: Police were alerted that a hotel cleaning worker located “what appeared to be narcotics” in one of the rooms. Friday. According to the report, A clear plastic baggie containing folded pieces of used lottery tickets were found. When unwrapped, a “white/brown powder” that tested a presumptive positive for heroin and possibly fentanyl was inside. The evidence was turned over to the drug task force and sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation lab.

Threatened: A man told police he pulled over to check something on his cell phone and one of the vehicles behind him stopped and the driver made a threat, Friday. According to the report, the driver told him he would kill him if he followed him again.

Charged: Police responded to a report of a man inside an apartment building he had previously been banned from, Friday. Shawn C. Thomas, 37, 725 Market St., was taken into custody for criminal trespass.

Road rage: A man told police his vehicle was rear-ended at an intersection and the driver of the vehicle who hit him backed up, drove around and yelled obscenities at him while passing, Saturday.

Bad trip: Police assisted the Steubenville Fire Department with an intoxicated man who allegedly used LSD and was punching holes in the walls of a residence, Sunday. According to the report, the man’s girlfriend said the man “appeared to be hallucinating.” Authorities were able to calm the man, who refused medical treatment and denied using LSD.

West, 33, 137 McDowell Ave., charged with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia, Friday; Erica L. Carpenter, 30, 1441 Maryland Ave., taken into custody on a bench warrant, Friday; Victorua G. Neely, 31, 223 Ohio St., taken into custody on a bench warrant, Friday; Jimmale P. Horton, 29, 810 N. Sixth St., taken into custody on a bench warrant and charged with possession of drugs, Saturday; Deborah J. Schiffman, 39, 1306 Park St., taken into custody on a bench warrant, Saturday; James A. West, 37, 437 Henry Ave., taken into custody on a bench warrant out of Belmont County, Saturday; Amanda M. Rogers, 33, 2623 Cherry Ave., taken into custody for failure to appear and issued a summons to appear in municipal court, Sunday; John Woodland, no fixed address, charged with possession of drugs, possession of a drug abuse instrument and as a fugitive from justice, Friday.
