Going, going gone: A Jewett woman who told her boyfriend to be gone by the time she got home from work said he was, but before leaving claims he broke several items, stole her PlayStation 5, pocketed $300 in cash she had in her home and stole her Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun, Wednesday.
Buying power: A Steubenville man who likes to buy his beer at a rural market told deputies he’s noticed suspicious charges on his debit card after he’s made purchases, Wednesday. He told deputies he’d made three legitimate purchases since March 22, but found his account had been debited five additional times without his knowledge. The fraudulent charges totaled about $105, he said.
It’s love: An Adena woman called 911, screaming a man wouldn’t leave her house, then hung up, Thursday. The woman called back to say he’d left and everything was fine, but hung up again when she was transferred to the sheriff’s department for verification.
Deputies were dispatched to check on her welfare, and said when they arrived, she told them she and her boyfriend were arguing and she asked him to leave but he refused and said call the cops so she did.
Deputies had to explain to the two that 911 isn’t to be used as a threat. The pair told deputies they’re in love.
Harassment: An Irondale woman said her ex has been sending her nasty and harassing messages, April 27. The woman was provided information on obtaining a protection order.
Booked: Franklin Bonar Jr., 43, 1677 Wells township Road 163, Brilliant, two active warrants for failure to appear, Wednesday.
Aggressive dogs: John Paul Moschell, 37, 1113 State St., Steubenville, was cited for dogs at large, Thursday.
Police allege two dogs running loose had bitten an individual, then forced them and paramedics to take refuge on the ambulance to escape. The man who was bitten had two puncture wounds to the back of his calf and bite marks on his hand from fighting with the dog, police said.
Sibling rivalry: An Ash Street resident told police he’d lent his car to his sister, but when he asked for her to bring it back to go to the store she got upset, Wednesday. The man said he told her to leave, and she threatened to break the windows out in the vehicle or get someone to beat him or his girlfriend up.
Upset: A female in the 600 block of Market Street was yelling profanities, Thursday. The woman told police she was upset over a child custody issue. She was advised to stop yelling and using profanities.
Problem: Juveniles were reportedly knocking on doors and running in the 1200 block of Oregon Avenue, Thursday. All were off the streets when police arrived.
Cited: Andrew Lesko, 50, 730 N. 7th St., Steubenville, cited for intoxication Wednesday after callers reported a male sitting on the sidewalk with his back against a residence, appearing to be asleep; Thomas E. Walenciej Sr., 44, 180 North Fourth St., Apt. 309, Steubenville, driving under suspension; Jamel R. Washington, 37, 3941 Adams St., Weirton, red light violation.
Reported: A caller reported hearing a shot fired in the area of Maryland Avenue and Carnegie Street, but police said when they checked the area there was no indication of a problem.
Mind bender: A caller in the 600 block of North Street reported a female threatening a man with a knife, but when they arrived police said there was no sign of a disturbance. The male called 911 back and said help was no longer needed.
Booked: Donte L. Saunders, 41, 407 Clinton St., Steubenville, charged with disorderly conduct Wednesday; Mark A. Carr, 57, 804 Franklin Ave. Steubenville, turned himself in on a warrant for failure to appear and Carr was sentenced to three days in jail, Thursday; Jon T. Davis, 51, no fixed address, Steubenville, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Wednesday.
Davis also was cited for open container, driving under suspension and unlawful/expi Police red plates.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners of property at 1349 Euclid Ave., 4005 Belleview Blvd., 1232 Maryland Ave., 823 N. Fourth St., 1914 Orchard St., 324 Woodlawn Road, 506 Woodlawn Road, all for high grass; 730 Rosswell Ave., litter and discarded appliances; 1322 Plum St., scattered household garbage including beer cans and pizza boxes; 1340 Arlington Ave., back yard full of junk and scrap metal; 1109 Claire Ave., litter.
Cited: Jonathon A. Johnson, 32, 120 Roberts St., dogs at large; Brea McNamara, 21, Boynton Beach, Fla.; Diana Mayfield, 44, Wellsville; Tyler W. Walters, 26, 417 township Road 223, Richmond; and Millie M. Okelli, 39, 176 Concord Court, Weirton, all cited for speeding.
