Booked: James A. Acconcia, 56, 92 Basil Drive, Weirton, charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and cited for driving under suspension, Wednesday. David Patterson, 31, 3532 Elm St., Weirton, taken into custody on a bench warrant out of Hancock County for a probation violation, Thursday.
Theft: A charity reported that its donation container had been stolen from a local store, Wednesday.
Snatched: A man who said he was walking along a path by the river reported a man he knew riding past on a bicycle stole a bag of tools and copper piping out of his hands, Wednesday. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the man on the bike.
Fight: A man reported another man whom he knows, and said he has had ongoing problems with, assaulted him in a local store, Wednesday. According to the report, the man said the individual in question began to harass and threaten him, using explicit language to say he runs his mouth without doing anything, then kicked him in the genitals when he turned to leave. The complainant said he responded by dropping his groceries and punching the man in the face. The report said the complainant heard the man say that next time he would shoot him. Store employees who witnessed the altercation backed up the complainant’s story and offered police security footage. The complainant did not wish to pursue charges, just for the man to leave him alone. Police located the man in question and advised him to cease future contact with the complainant.
