Steubenville police

Unannounced guest: A woman in the 700 block of North Seventh Street said a man she knows only by his nickname laid hands on her, Monday. She said the man, who is the father of her unborn child, has been showing up unannounced and this time, brought a friend with him and spit in her face. She said she’s in the process of moving so he can’t stalk her.

Lost and found: A Ridge Avenue resident said sometime over the last three days someone stole his AK-47 pistol, Monday. He said he kept it under his back seat. Police told him the gun had been seized as evidence in a traffic stop.

Harassing: A Grandview Avenue resident told police a woman known to her is calling and texting, claiming she owes her money, Monday. The woman said some of the messages seem threatening in nature, so she was advised to save them and speak with the prosecutor.

Summoned: Kathy Filler, 58, 627 North Fifth St., Apt. 3, Steubenville, failure to appear, Monday.

Jefferson County sheriff

Noisy: A caller reported a couple being loud at a building in Stratton, Monday. Deputies located a female standing outside who appeared to be in distress and told them she was “intoxicated and locked outside” by her family, but her family told deputies the woman was outside their door, highly intoxicated talking to a man. They said they’d tried to coax her inside but when she refused, they eventually gave up and went to bed. The family said she could stay if she went to bed, but just a few minutes after they left deputies were called back to the apartment because the woman was fighting with her family. She was advised she would be arrested if she didn’t go to sleep. Her family advised deputies the man she was with was homeless and also intoxicated, so they followed his footprints in the snow to check on his well-being. They located him walking down the middle of State Route 8 near Empire and gave him a ride to Toronto.
