A 3-year-old child treated at Trinity West for second- and third-degree burns to his buttocks and left thigh was transported to UPMC Burn Center, Pittsburgh, for further treatment. The incident is under investigation.

Steubenville police

Shots heard: Officers responded to the 1400 block of Euclid Avenue for a report of shots fired, Tuesday. They located the source of the shots and collected evidence and said one subject was transported to Trinity West for a psychological evaluation.

New wrinkle: Walmart employees told police a man took a microwave out of a box and stuffed a much more expensive robotic sweeper inside while his female accomplice served as lookout, Tuesday. The couple also skipped-scanned several other items, then walked away without paying for a blanket and sheets. The three items stolen were valued at $531, police said. Police have photos of the suspects.

Drinking: A Lovers Lane resident said she had a friend she knew only by his given name over for a few hours to drink shots of vodka, Monday morning. She said she passed out and when she woke up, he was gone along with gold chains and rings valued at around $1,000. She believes her drinking buddy must have taken the items since no one else was inside her residence that evening.

Booked: Christopher Rice, 44, 1304 Park St., Steubenville, was charged with domestic violence, Monday. Rice’s wife told police she’d locked herself in the bathroom because her husband was throwing screwdrivers at her and said she’s not sure how he got in since he doesn’t have a key. Upon arrival, police saw a broken TV at the front steps. He denied throwing anything at his wife, including screwdrivers, or that she locked herself in the bathroom. He said he was packing his belongings and a TV he’d purchased so he could leave. Rice also faces a parole violation.

Violations noted: Two people were cited after an officer watched a silver Ford sedan fail to come to a complete stop at Ridge and Ohio avenues, Sunday. Todd M. Jackson, 18, 200 Second St., Mingo Junction, was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Police said he exited the car and when police told him to stop, laid down on the ground. He told them the driver, a juvenile, didn’t have a license and he didn’t want her to get in trouble because he had a drug in his possession. The driver was cited into juvenile court for no operator’s license. The owner of the vehicle, who was also in the vehicle, was allowed to drive the vehicle home after police confirmed his license was valid.

Shots: Callers reported hearing shots fired in the 400 block of Spring Avenue, Monday. Police questioned a few people in the area who said they heard the shots and thought a white or silver SUV might have been involved, but officers didn’t locate any evidence weapons had been discharged.

Fake: A customer passed a counterfeit $100 bill to the city water department, Tuesday.

Served: Tonya E. Wallace, 51, 441 Henry Ave., Steubenville, assault and possession of drug paraphernalia, Tuesday.

A South Ninth Street resident said a female known to him stole a bag containing two cell phones, his ID and credit cards, a Nike mask, a cell phone charger and a Bluetooth speaker from his residence 10 days ago and was going to let the theft go, but when he went to Job and Family Services he was told his ID and credit cards had been dropped in their mailbox, Tuesday. He said he wants a report on file.

Disgruntled: A man reportedly smoking marijuana at a hotel on University Boulevard became argumentative after the manager told him he’d have to leave, Tuesday. The room was rented by his female companion, and after she went to work the man was in the room smoking. The manager told him he’d needed to leave and they weren’t to return, and said he became argumentative in the lobby with her about paying for the room and left when she told him she was calling police.

Code issues: A notice of violation was sent to the owner/occupant of property at 431 Union Ave., garage and scattered litter in rear of the residence and large window in front of property that’s been shattered (complaint).

McShan Jr., 24, 426 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, expired/unlawful plates, failure to signal 100 feet prior and DUS; Tavaunae J. Ware, 1301 Belleview Blvd., Steubenville, stop sign violation and driving under suspension; Diane W. Kremer, 77, county Road 68, Toronto, red light violation; Danielle Millerick, 21, Mystic, Conn., stop sign violation; Emanuel Shrock, 22, 1022 Jefferson St., Bergholz, cited for failure to yield left turn after a two-car crash on John Scott Highway at Sunset Boulevard.

Bothered: A downtown resident said her ex is harassing her and sending her threatening text messages since their break-up, Tuesday.

Booked: Shana Cork, 31, 984 Cove Road, Weirton, bench warrant, Monday.
