WEIRTON — Curtis Allen Lehman will be among those inducted into the Weirton Hall of Fame this year, under the category of music and fine arts.

This year’s induction banquet will be held at 2 p.m., Aug. 12 at Undo’s in Weirton. Tickets are on sale at a cost of $30 per person, and are available at the Weirton Municipal Building.

Lehman was born in Connellsville, Pa. in August 1955, moving to Weirton in 1958.

He began playing guitar at 9 years old, studying under Parke Hill. As a teenager, he was part of local bands, playing at community events and high school functions. He graduated from Weir High School in 1973.

He continued his musical career as a member of several bands, including Hiatus, Ashton Clark, Messiah, The Zero Band and Dancer. He also was among the founders of groups Transit, Jimmy Lay Band and BoneDaddy.

His playing styles included rock, blues, jazz and funk, eventually spending 40 years as a guitar teacher himself, working with hundreds of students around the Tri-State Area.

Lehman also spent time in the studio, working on projects for television networks, advertising agencies and sports franchises, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets. He also worked weekly on original compositions as part of The Page One Project.

In the 1980s, Lehman purchased Music City in Steubenville, operating the business until he became president of Prestige Pawn Shop Inc, with locations in Weirton and Chester.
