Event planned

Plans are being finalized for Saturday’s fourth-annual Hank Kuzma Community Day at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. The day is in recognition of the late basketball coach Hank Kuzma, who played major roles at the university and with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. The event will run from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Finnegan Field House. Chamber members and their guests, along with members of the university family, will be able to watch the Barons basketball teams take on Medaille College — the women will play at 2 p.m. and the men will play at 4 p.m. — from the Baron Room or courtside. Valley Hospice and Trinity Health System are sponsors. Among those planning the day are, from left, Chris Orris, community liaison of Valley Hospice; Laurie Labishak, marketing manager of Trinity Health System; Rich Donnelly, professional baseball coach; Tricia Maple-Damewood, president of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; Pete Rosaschi, assistant athletic director at the university; and Mike Florak, executive director of community relations at the university. Donnelly, a Steubenville native, will be on hand to sign copies of his book “The Chicken Runs at Midnight” from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge to attend the event, and the hospitality room will feature refreshments.
