Brooke Farmers Market set to expand vendor base

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Farmers Market is celebrating its seventh season by expanding its vendor base.

Individuals and farms within Brooke County, and a 50-mile radius of the county seat of Wellsburg, are invited to apply as a vendor for the 2019 season, which starts in June.

The Brooke County Farmers Association assists vendors with marketing, networking and revenue generation.

Sponsored by the West Virginia University Extension Division of Brooke County, the association works hand-in-hand with the state Department of Agriculture and makes it easy for an individual or a business to become a vendor and market goods to the community.

The market is seeking suppliers of home or farm grown vegetables, fruits, herbs, eggs and other fresh produce and goods.

In addition, the market is recruiting artisans who make unique home-made crafts.

The market begins June 19 at the Follansbee Tractor Supply location, and June 22 at the state Route 2 location in Wellsburg.

Prospective suppliers will be asked to complete a short vendor application form and submit it by April 5.
